WINGS2009

This is a brief selection of some of the message received during and after WINGS2009

Thank you to everyone who made WINGS2009 possible

"Returning to work after a week at Wings is a real “down to earth with a bang scenario! We would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to ensure Wings 2009 was the huge success it was. Our Scouts, Explorers and Leaders all had a fantastic time and made memories and friends that will last for a long time. many of them were asking if they could come back with us in 5 years as explorers or leaders! We may need a bigger pitch next time around! Part of our enjoyment was down to the excellent sub-camp team who were approachable, pragmatic and above all fun! We felt really lucky to have been allocated that sub camp! Everyone made us feel as much part of the team as they were. Please also pass on all thank all those staff who ran the activities – I personally helped out with belaying on one of the climbing walls one afternoon.  After 3 hours, my arms were exhausted and I only did 10% of the work the regular crew on them did during the week. Amazing dedication and commitment. The “toilet crew” certainly deserve a special thank you! If ever there was a thankless task, that was it! And the three of us who helped with the picking and packing of the food felt every leader should be made to go and see that operation first hand. If they did, they would be in awe of the slickness of the operation and the size of the task faced by the team there on a daily basis. Thank you again and here’s to 2014; we look forward to seeing you then!!!" Simon

"Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in for WINGS2009. I came from a totally different place and therefore joined up to a new unit, but I still felt at home because of what all the input everyone had to make it a great week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I couldn't pick out a favorite part apart from maybe the opening and closing celebrations. It was great that everyone helped and the Scout-Med team were on hand to patch me up when I sprained my ankle. The week was brilliant and I hope to come back in 2014 for another great week of fun." Talie

"My daughter attended WINGS as part of a County Contingent She clearly had a fantastic time. She has shown me the videos on the website and I can see just how many people have been involved in organising this event and ensuring that all the participants had as good a time as She did. She loved all the activities that she took part in and enjoyed meeting so many people from around the world. The girls she camped with were selected from throughout her County and so did not know each other previously but through the earlier weekends organised by their leaders and the time at WINGS they have all become firm friends. This to me is what Guiding and Scouting are all about. I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has been involved in the organisation before, during and after the event and to say that if the rest of the campers had half as much fun as She did it was worth you while."

"To all of the wonderful people who organised WINGS 2009, Thank you so much for all the hard work and preparation you put in to making WINGS so fantastic! The range of activities to the freedom you were given to walk around was probably what I liked the best about WINGS. The activities themselves were superb and I particularly enjoyed the Hot Air zone and the Caving in the Outdoor Skills zone. The WINGS factor was also a very good idea as everyone appreciated talent from all over the world. Thank you again for this brilliant chance to have fun with people from over the world in great magnitude! Hannah

"Firstly thank you all for a very enjoyable week. The best organized jamboree that I have been at. Thank you so much for everything." Kevin

"I have just returned from the WINGS Jamboree, and I wanted to say what a fantastic time I had. Thank you." Christopher

"I would just like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in giving the participants such a wonderful time last week. This was my third time as a Unit Leader at WINGS and it never ceases to amaze me how you manage to improve things every time. Your formula must be right for WINGS to have grown so much. Long Live WINGS Camps. See you all in 2014, I hope !"  Loris

"I have two daughters at camp with you and I have had a fantastic time looking through all the photos and videos. I was worried they might be bored this week....not a chance, there is so much fun, interesting, educational, active and exciting stuff for them to do. I cannot imagine the work that goes into putting something like this together, but I want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved." Glynis

"A big THANK YOU to everyone involved with the organisation of WINGS2009. You have done a fantastic job. It was certainly one of the best Jamborees we have attended." Margaret & Val

"WINGS 2003 was great but WINGS 2009 was even better. Thank you all for your help with the smooth running of such an amazing experience had by our Guides. We had tears on the way home and tunes on the radio reminded them of many things that had happened during the week. We are now safely back, very tired but with many happy memories of a fantastic week." Heather

"As a parent I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the life changing opportunities you have given my son through his time with you at WINGS2009 and I would guess you all had a great time too! My son has just come down to planet earth today and has already pinned all his swap badges onto his blanket for me to sew (oh joy!). Thank you again for building on my son's memories in Scouting and I have no doubt that when he's old and grey like the rest of us he'll still remember the great week he had!"
